About this role…

The Accountant will be working closely with the client to support the business and manage the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient and experienced with accountants office general ledger software, specifically in MYOBAE Practice and MYOBAE client accounting, MYOB Tax, MS Office Professional Suite of software
  • Taking source data and financial information prepared by clients/bookkeepers and produces a draft set of financial statements for review by manager
  • Strong knowledge of client accounting software, being MYOB, Xero, Quickbooks & Reckon
  • Resolves all queries raised in compilation of financial statements and entering journals
  • Assist clients to administer their accounting systems (MYOB, Quickbooks,Xero, Excel Spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Completion of all income tax returns forms (excluding super funds)
  • Acquired knowledge of income tax law, fringe benefits tax and corporations law
  • Acquired an understanding of capital gains tax, GST.
  • Developed analytical skills e.g. using common sense and logic, can spot areas of concern and errors made by client
  • Developed an understanding of corporate structure e.g. asset accumulation/protection, and uses of trusts and limitation of distributions to beneficiaries including Div7A
  • Working to a deadline and undertaking tasks in a timely manner our outlined in the MYOB job management system in reporting to a manager/partner, or the client, significantly adds value to the relationship
  • Has desk, outlook inbox and workflows that are well organised and prioritised – using the job manager in MYOB AE on a daily basis, discussing with manager/partner their job priorities for the week and reporting on progress of all jobs allocated, regular review of jobs during processing stages and queries through to production of financial statements, tax returns and associated documentation

    Qualifications / Skills:
  • Graduate of Accountancy or Accounting Technology; Advantage if CPA licensed
  • 3 years experience in a similar role and a strong working knowledge of MYOB AE Practice & Client Accounting Software and tax preparation software
  • Accounting & tax fundamentals
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
